Vrajendraraj Mehta is Vice-Chancellor of Kota Open University, Kota, earlier he was Professor and Head of the Department of Political Science at Rajasthan University, Jaipur and Himachal Pradesn Uni­versity, Shimla. Born in 1944 at Jodhpur, he did his M.A. from the University of Delhi and Ph.D. from Cambridge (U.K.) where he had gone on Commonwealth Scholarship. He was a Commonwealth Academic Staff Fellow at Institute of Commonwealth Studies, Queen Elizabeth House, Oxford (UK) during the academic year 1981-82.

He is also the Editor and Chairman of the Advisory Council for the Second Survey of Political Science commissioned by the ICSSR. Mehta is author of three books including Beyond Marxism: Towards an Alternative Perspective (Manohar) and has also contributed many articles to national and international journals.
