Myn, raised in exile among the tatters of a once-great warrior clan, is sent back to the kingdom that cast her people out. Her mission: to apprentice under the reclusive magician Crow-and kill him for his role in her clan's ruin.

But as she trains in his tower, Myn discovers that Crow is not the monster she was promised, but a scarred man shaped by manipulation...much like she herself has been. When assassins strike and the two are forced to fight side by side, a dangerous attraction grows between them.

Myn faces a terrible choice: betray her people, or destroy the man she is beginning to love.
