ANAAR DESAI-STEPHENS is assistant professor of ethnomusicology at the CUNY Graduate Center. Her articles have appeared in Twentieth Century Music, Culture, Theory, Critique, MusiCULTURE, and in edited volumes including Music in Contemporary Indian Film and the Oxford Handbook of Economic Ethnomusicology.
