Durante la guerra civil, Jaén fue capital de la Andalucía republicana y del Ejército del Sur, y por ella pasaron escritores como Miguel Hernández, Pedro Garfias, José Herrera Petere o Andrés Martínez de León, trabajando para el Altavoz del Frente Sur. También estuvieron en ella Antonio Oliver y Carmen Conde. No nos podemos olvidar de los que ya residían en la misma, encabezados por Rafael Porlán. Otros jienenses como Manuel Andújar y Juan Pérez Creus desarrollaron su escritura extraterritorialmente. Nunca se ha prestado suficiente atención a este doble hecho. El presente volumen colectivo se presenta como una contribución necesaria, y casi pionera, al estudio de esta red de relaciones literarias tejidas en torno a Jaén, situando la ciudad como espacio geográfico, literario y simbólico de referencia en la República de las Letras.Jaén was, during the Spanish Civil War, the capital of the Republican Andalusia and the Army of the South, and there we find writers such as Miguel Hernández, Pedro Garfias, José Herrera Petere and Andrés Martínez de León, all of them working for the Speaker of the Southern Front.
