The country of Ecuador, has a geological diversity besides a climatic variety a natural green mantle, which constitutes an attraction to know for the world conformed by beaches high humidity of the oriental forests, as well as the majesty of the Andean mountain range, where 27 volcanoes can be appreciated, in which the volcano Tungurahua is of the most attractive of the region. The Tungurahua Volcano PGVT Geopark Project was born with the intention of taking advantage of the geosites for the development of tourism and scientific activities, which has guided this research that begins with a characterization of the PGVT.Subsequently, an analysis of the most representative geoparks in Latin America and the Caribbean is carried out, with a comparison of the benefits and attractions among the identified geoparks, by means of a simple quantitative descriptive analysis that proceeded to the characterization with the help of the components proposed by Pereira 2007 consisting of intrinsic value, potential use and need for protection, to analyze the most representative geoparks and finally a comparative analysis to establish in which range the PGVT is located.
